ALICIA ROMANO
FINE ART WORKS & EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY

To slides
Reporter, photographer, artist, poetess…In Alicia Romano's work is not art that translates an erotic language but rather the opposite, is the erotic language that becomes art in an almost scenic universe that doesn't demand anything else than itself in the process of interpretation. Where the plane of expression blends with that of the content, where the form is the very substance, not imposing other connotative references beyond its undefined sfumato boundaries.

So as the dream is perceptible in its profound and unexplainable emotion only by living it from within and accepting to be dragged along it's vortex towards the non boundaries of space and time, likewise Alicia Romano's art is wonderfully perceptible if we accept to enter her dream, that with intriguing seduction envelops us in its vigorous and at times irreverent approach. Her muses propose us to enter a liberating oneiric journey, capable of speaking aloud about the primordial dimension of the libido inside the very soul, due to the primeval language that Alicia Romano places at our disposal to enter her seductive dream.

G. Larssen editor of "Gunnar's", the exclusive trend setting French magazine, referred to her work "Sacred & Profane" as "oeuvres d'art".

Born in Buenos Aires, Alicia came to Europe on a postgraduate trip. The dramatic political events that marked her country determined an involuntary exile that became permanent as time went by.

She settled in Milan where she became a demanded model with agents in Paris, Germany and Amsterdam. Later she moved to Amsterdam successfully trading modelling for a career as a fashion an advertising photographer. During more than a decade her pictures have illustrated glossy fashion magazines as well as prestigious advertising campaigns in France and Holland. Seeking a different way of life she moved to Portugal in the nineties. As a freelance journalist Alicia has collaborated with magazines as Grande Reportagem, Penthouse, Evasôes, Traveller, Newlook, Descobrir, Avantgarde, Pais e Filhos, Avenue, Azďe and journal Expresso.

Her fine art works charged with poetic sensuality are a reflection on the subtle spiritual world, the parallel realities hidden behind the solid physical world of matter, the alchemial fire of sexuality, the fantasies and dreams that liberate us from the chains imposed by an implacable reality…
